Dr Wolman trained in Rheumatology and Sport and Exercise Medicine in London. He helped to set up and develop the Olympic Medical Institute at Northwick Park between 1987 and 1991. During this time he wrote his MD thesis on Exercise and Osteoporosis. He subsequently wrote papers on Exercise following Brain injury and Exercise and Arthritis. In 1994 he was appointed as Consultant Rheumatologist at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He was also appointed to the RNOH as Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine, the first NHS appointment in this specialty. In 1994 Dr Wolman was awarded a prestigious Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship to North America in Sports Medicine.
At the RNOH Dr Wolman has set up the Gait Analysis Lab, Compartment Pressure Measurement service, the weekly Dance Medicine clinic and the Athletes Bone clinic. He has worked for the Olympic Medical Institute and several Professional Dance Companies and Football teams. He has a strong belief in the health benefits of exercise and runs Exercise Prescription clinic with the aim of replacing medication with Exercise as the most effective way of managing many chronic diseases. His practice at Spire Bushey includes all these areas as well as general Rheumatology.
As a strong believer in the health benefits of exercise, Dr Wolman jogs and attends his local gym several times per week. He also helps to coach at his son’s football team. He is a keen spectator of football, cricket and dance. His other interests include Modern History, Travel and Single Malts.
