I trained in general medicine and spent two years as a senior registrar in clinical oncology and therapeutics. I am a fully accredited general physician and medical oncologist as well as having undergone training in clinical oncology and holding the FRCR.

I took up my consultant post in 1984 and have since provided a general oncology service to Watford General Hospital. I initially also worked at the Lister Hospital, Stevenage. In 1989 I moved to Wexham Park Hospital in Slough to provide a similar service.

I believe the future of the speciality lies in greater site specialisation and cooperation with other colleagues in other disciplines working on the same disease through multi-disciplinary team working. In the last few years I have increasingly specialised in breast cancer, but still see patients with other disease sites at the specific request of colleagues.

All patients with breast cancer that I see will have received full multi-disciplinary team assessment. Multi-disciplinary meetings are held weekly with the breast surgeons, radiologists and pathologists with whom I work closely.

I have a variety of interests outside medicine, most notably antiques, furniture, clocks, paintings and pop memorabilia. I am a keen gardener and we open our garden for the National Garden Scheme in July. I am also a keen runner and completed my third London Marathon in 2003.
