Background Information
Professional profile:

I am a general Gynaecologist with a national and international reputation.  I have been a consultant for 15 years and provide advice, scanning and surgery for early pregnancy problems, period problems, hormone problems, abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain and endometriosis, fibroids and ovarian cysts, prolapse and incontinence.  I hold the double qualification of Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and sub-specialist Consultant in Reproductive (Fertility) medicine and Surgery.

I am past chair of the AEPU to read I am past chair of the Association of Early Pregnancy Units (AEPU), a national organisation setting standards in early pregnancy and emergency care.  After six years as Secretary and three successful years as Chair,  I stepped down in November 2014.  During this time, I updated the website and introduced a formal membership.

I am currently Chair of the Nice Guideline Committee for the guideline on the diagnosis and management of endometriosis. It is anticipated that the guideline will be published in May 2017.

Personal profile:

I was inspired to specialize in Obstetrics and Gynaecology during my medical student attachment on Delivery Suite at the Royal Free Hospital in London. After her birth, the woman I had been looking after asked me "had I thought about going into obstetrics?”  She said that I had made a big difference to her during her labour and birth. It is to her that I owe my career.  My main interests outside of work are my husband and daughter.  I have a full-time NHS job that keeps me very busy, so weekends are mostly spent relaxing and recharging.
