Professional profile:

I have had a broad-based surgical training in Cambridge, Oxford and  London, before completing my neurosurgical training and research in Southampton.  In recent years I have increasingly sub-specialised in aspects of spinal surgery, intracranial tumour surgery and neurovascular surgery. 

I have played a major role in the development of the Clinical Neurosciences in Bristol as a Clinic Director.  I have also been closely involved in several strategic developments affecting neurosurgical standards, training and selection at a national level.  I have served as Chairman of the Specialist Advisory Committee in Neurosurgery and as the Vice-President of the Society of British Neurological Surgeons.
