Spire Bristol Hospital, The Glen, is investing £1.5 million in a new cardiac catheter lab, allowing consultants to perform complex cardiology procedures such as angiography, angioplasty, EP/ablation work, PFO closures and renal denervation.
Adam Busby, theatre manager at The Glen, said the new facility, which will be installed over the summer, will make the hospital one of the UK’s few truly “one-stop-shop” destinations for cardiology and cardio-thoracic surgery.
“We currently offer non-invasive cardiology and cardio-thoracic surgery but are missing a piece between the two,” he said. “The new cardiac catheter lab means we will be able to offer patients the full range of complex cardiology procedures all in one place.”
Spire Bristol Hospital is already a National Centre of Excellence for Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery and this investment will ensure that the hospital remains one of the top private destinations in the UK for cardiology and cardio-thoracic surgery.
