Our new state-of-the-art £1.2 million MRI scanner has now been installed at Spire Bristol Hospital – the first of its kind in the South West.
The scanner, a Siemens 1.5 Tesla, produces top quality Magnetic Resonance Imaging, as well as an improved patient experience and uses the latest technology giving more detailed pictures than was previously possible.
But what is it and what does it do? Well, MRI scanners use a powerful magnetic field, radio waves and an advanced computer to produce detailed images of almost every internal part of the human body. These can then be examined on a computer screen or print-out.
This new scanner brings the very latest technology to Bristol and is yet another example of our commitment to providing patients in the South West with the very best facilities.
We can now perform even more complex investigations than was previously the case in areas such as cardiac, brain and liver procedures. Not only is the image quality second to none, but our new scanner will help to make the patient journey far better and quicker.
I should also say that as well as seeing patients who have insurance, we are also open to everyone on a self-pay basis. We aim to offer appointments within 48 hours of a referral and a prompt reporting service, so that results are available as a quickly as possible.
