Spire Bristol Hospital, The Glen offers a wide range of private blood tests and investigations including blood group or type tests. Speak to your GP if you would like a private blood group or type  test and ask for a referral to Spire Bristol Hospital.


There are four basic groups of blood types – A, B, AB and O and each of these will be either positive or negative (rhesus) – for example O rhesus positive.

A simple blood test, which is analysed in our laboratories, will identify your blood type. Knowing your blood type is important for certain types of profession, travelling to certain countries, and if you ever need a blood transfusion.
