Professor Stephen Prime is a Consultant in Oral Medicine and has practised in this capacity at Bristol Dental Hospital since 1984. He first qualified in Dentistry at the University of Birmingham (BDS) and later gained postgraduate experience in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow (FDSRCPS) and in Oral Pathology, London (FRCPath). His primary research interests are in the study of oral cancer and he has published widely in this context. For his research contributions, he was awarded a PhD from the University of Melbourne and a DSc from the University of Birmingham.Professor Prime has had a broad training in Oral Medicine. He has worked in Birmingham, Melbourne, Glasgow and Bristol and is privileged to be listed on the General Dental Council’s specialist register. He has extensive experience of treating oral disease, (ulcers, blisters, white/red patches, infection, swelling), facial pain, disorders of sensation (burning, numbness, soreness), TMJ dysfunction and salivary gland disorders including dry mouth.Professor Prime accepts private referrals from dentists, GPs and other specialists.
