Background Information 
Professional profile:
John graduated from Queens University Belfast in 1987. His basic surgical and orthopaedic training was in the RAF before specialist orthopaedic training in the West Midlands Deanery. He then has Senior Registrar and Fellowship SPINE posts in Hartshill, Oswestry, Adelaide and was the National Spine Fellow in Nottingham.

He has a very busy NHS practice dealing with complex spine pathology with referrals from throughout the UK. He has development several spinal implants, which are in use world-wide, lectures in Europe and North America and examines for all four surgical colleges in Britain. He was the subject of a BBC documentary Your life in their hands and is an advisor to the TV Drama Casualty.
Personal profile:
John is married with 2 children living in a 17th century farmhouse he restored from a derelict state. He plays tennis, bridge and golf and enjoys skiing in the winter and water sports in the summer. He dislikes bureaucracy and loves meeting interesting people.
