Trauma experience was gained at Southampton. I did a trauma fellowship at Plymouth and Bristol. I spent six months in the Hand Unit at the BRI with experience of both traumatic and cold orthopaedic hand problems. That was followed by six months dealing with cold hand surgery at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre. 1994 Extensive trauma and Elective Operative Experience was obtained working with Mr T J Herbert at the Sydney Hand Unit, Australia. I currently undergo a 1 in 5 trauma rota dealing with all kinds of trauma at consultant level. 90% of my work is hand surgery, both cold and traumatic.
I am on the Examining Board of the Royal College of Surgeons. I am overall chair of the AO principles of Fracture Fixation Course. I teach faculty members and consultants how to teach on the Teaching the Trainer course at the Royal College in London. I teach on the AO hand course and aim to chair that within the next two years.
I run each weekend and have ran several London marathons, rasing money for research in to cot death.
I have an interest in classic cars and now not my own but my children's sporting activities.
