I graduated from Oxford University. I underwent surgical training in Liverpool and Edinburgh and also spent a 12 month period as a Senior Registrar in Adelaide, Australia. I have a broad based training in general surgery including all aspects of gastro-intestinal disease. However, my specialist interest is upper GI and hepato-pancretico-biliary (HPB) surgery.

My interests include management of gallstones, pancreatitis, hernia surgery and endoscopy. I have particular expertise in laparoscopic cholecystectomy and have experience of laparoscopic bile duct exploration and laparoscopic hernia surgery.

A large part of my consultant practice is the provision of a regional HPB service for the population of Avon, Somerset and Wiltshire. This involves the management of patients with both benign and malignant disease of the liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile duct. I have particular expertise in liver, pancreatic and biliary surgery and receive referrals from other specialist within Bristol and throughout the wider region. I work closely with colleagues in gastroenterology, radiology and oncology and as such provide a comprehensive service enabling patients to have the benefit of a range of specialist opinions and discussion of all available treatment options.

I am married to a local GP and we have two small children. I follow most sports particularly rugby, football and cricket. I enjoy eating out and, since returning from Australia, I have tried to maintain an interest in the varied wines of the region.
