I am a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at the Bristol Heart Institute and Spire Hospital Bristol. I qualified from University College London Medical School in 1997 and rotated through various London teaching hospitals before returning to university in 2003 to undertake research into the causes of abnormal heart rhythms. I was awarded a PhD from Cambridge University in 2006. I returned to London to sub-specialise in heart rhythm treatment at St Bartholomew's Hospital and was appointed a consultant in 2009.
I am trained in all aspects of cardiac arrhythmia management including catheter ablation, pacemaker/defibrillator implantation, cardiac resynchronisation therapy and system extraction. My specialist interest is ablation of complex arrhythmias especially atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia. I also perform ablation in patients with congenital heart disease (GUCH) and children alongside colleagues from the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
I have written 2 books, Cardiology in Focus (Churchill Livingstone, 2004) and Ready Reference: Cardiology (Elsevier 2010) and numerous scientific papers specifically relating to the mechanisms and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.
