Spire Healthcare is delighted to announce plans to invest £10.5million in Spire Bristol Hospital. Existing facilities are to be expanded to advance patient care at the hospital.
The hospital has been offering medical care to patients since 1988 and fulfils an important role in the provision of medical services in Bristol and the surrounding area in the south west. This expansion of the hospital will allow for the efficient use of space within the building, enabling cardiology, cardiac surgery, orthopaedics, and other services to be grown. Another theatre will be added to the hospital, bringing the total to five. The hospital currently has the only private ITU facility in the south west, so the expansion of the recovery and critical care area will be a great asset to the hospital.
The number of consulting rooms will be increased from 16 to 21, which will allow for a new cardiology suite, with improved monitoring and assessment of patients.
The planned development will also allow for internal refurbishment to improve the overall environment for patients and staff alike, as well as providing 13 additional bedrooms.
The physical expansion of the site will include improved parking and access to facilities. It is proposed that 29 new car park spaces will be created in total. This will included 6 disabled parking spaces in accessible locations by the entrances. Further cycle and motorcycle parking areas are also to be provided.
The future expansion of the hospital represents an important step forward in the improvement of healthcare facilities in Bristol. The development will be completed by 2009.
