Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Can Change Your Life, But Not Something to Be Taken Lightly

2nd August 2010

There aren’t many of us who think we’re perfect, and for thousands of people even the slightest of imperfections can seem magnified.

From our overall body shape to small bumps and wrinkles, there is a seemingly endless list of things humans want to change.

The reasons for wanting to change some physical aspect of ourselves are just as varied. For some it’s the quest for eternal youth and for others it’s a genuine belief that some aspect of their bodies is holding them back in life.

And, contrary to what you think you already know about the type of person who goes in for cosmetic plastic surgery, the truth is we see all walks of life coming to see us here at Spire Bristol Hospital.

While it is true that the majority of people who opt for this kind of surgery are women, an increasing number of men are coming to see us too.

The most popular procedure is that old favourite the nose job (or rhinoplasty to give it its real name), although another form of cosmetic plastic surgery, gynecomastia (male breast reduction) is growing in popularity.

However, whether you’re a man or a woman, it’s important to remember that while modern cosmetic plastic surgery can provide a solution and is more widely available than ever before, it is definitely not something to enter into lightly.

Here at Spire Bristol Hospital we take patient care extremely seriously and anyone who comes to see us about any sort of cosmetic plastic surgery must first talk through their options with a consultant and be made fully aware of what they’re getting into before the process can move forward.

The usual course of action is for you to see the cosmetic surgeon to discuss all of the options, including any risks or side effects after which you are advised to think about all of the information you have been given for at least two weeks before planning an operation.
