Saul Halpern graduated from the Royal London Hospital Medical College in 1987 with an addition first class honours degree in Pharmacology. He completed further general medical training at St. Bartholomews and Guys Hospitals, London, before undertaking specialist training in dermatology at St. Bartholomews Hospital and subsequently at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital between 1992 and 1998. During this time he also undertook a research fellowship into the effects of steroids on skin cell biology at the William Harvey Institute, St. Bartholomews Medical College.
He took up his appointment at the Medway Maritime Hospital in August 1998 and also runs clinics at Maidstone Hospital. Within the Dermatology Department he has responsibilities for skin cancer surgery, phototherapy, clinical governance and teledermatology. Saul strongly believes in giving patients time to fully explain the nature of their condition and the treatment options as necessary. Since 2003 he has also developed an interest in cosmetic dermatology with further training and experience in such techniques as anti-wrinkle injection, dermal fillers and chemical peels.

Saul was brought up in Rochester and subsequently returned to his home town. He is married with 3 children. His interests include music and natural history, sharing his family home with dogs, koi carp and an assortment of other creatures.
