The BBC broadcast for 'Hospital Heroes' filmed at King's College Hospital, London, featured Mr Anan Shetty - Orthopaedic Consultant Surgeon who explained the benefits of computer navigation to assist with the alignment of the prosthesis used for knee replacement. The broadcast covered the story of a retired ice skater, under Mr Shetty's care, who due to arthritis required a knee replacement. Two hours post surgery the patient was up and walking unaided and was able to be discharged home 24 hours later.
Mr Shetty consults and operates at the Spire Alexandra Hospital where the computer navigation equipment is also available and is widely used for knee replacement surgery.
