Spire Executive Management Team

Spire Healthcare is led by an executive team with a diverse range of experience both in the UK and internationally, in healthcare and other industry sectors.

Robert Wise,
Chief Executive Officer

Robert was the Chief Operating Officer of what was Australia's largest private hospital operator, Affinity Health, after its formation following a highly successful private equity funded buy-out from Mayne Health in December 2003. He was responsible for the operational performance of the group of 50 hospitals located throughout Australia, also covering non-clinical contractual services, capital planning and development, property management and materials management.

Robert has extensive experience at hands-on hospital management as well his corporate experience and is excited about making a strong contribution to Spire Healthcare's future.

Robert (Rob) Roger,
Chief Financial Officer

Rob has recently left the Tussauds Group which was a private equity business backed by Charterhouse. Prior to that he worked for First Choice Plc, PepsiCo Inc, Burlington Air Express, DHL Global and originally trained at Deloitte Haskins & Sells.

Rob brings a lot of new experience to the business including private equity, tax, treasury and property matters.

 



 

Dr Jean-Jacques de Gorter,
Clinical Services Director

Jean-Jacques (JJ) is director of clinical services for Spire Healthcare. He is responsible for setting the clinical standards that ensure the safe and appropriate delivery of all clinical services across the UK.

JJ qualified from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1993, with a further degree from Cranfield School of Management. He has practised as a doctor in the UK, New Zealand and Australia in both primary and secondary care. Prior to joining Spire Healthcare, he was medical director for NHS Direct Thames Valley and Northamptonshire.

He is on the advisory boards of the Independent Healthcare Advisory Service (IHAS) and NHS Partners Network. He has also been appointed to the NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) Partners Council representing the Independent Healthcare Advisory Service. JJ is a passionate advocate of quality improvement and clinical innovation using emerging information sharing technologies.

Daniel Toner, 
General Counsel and Group Company Secretary

Previously with Freshfields and the commercial Directorate at the Department of Health, Daniel joined Bupa hospitals as Head of Legal in 2006, becoming General Counsel and Company Secretary for Spire in September 2007.

Mark Briscoe,
Director of Business Improvement

Prior to joining Spire Healthcare in June 2008, Mark had worked in the Australian private healthcare system for 15 years in a variety of financial and commercial roles. These included positions at Australia’s largest private hospital operator at the time, Affinity Health, and more recently Symbion Healthcare’s radiology business unit.
