Background Information
Professional profile:
Mr Wootton qualified at St Bartholomew's Medical School in 1981 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1984. His initial training was in general surgery and then he moved to orthopaedics, training in Norwich, Leicester, Stoke-on-Trent and Australia.

The majority of his specialist orthopaedic training was predominantly in Australia, where he was based in a sports injury medicine clinic in Sydney. On his return to the UK he introduced techniques of arthroscopic knee surgery including ligament reconstruction and arthroscopic shoulder surgery.

Mr Wootton's initial consultant appointment was in 1992 at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital. He also consulted at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry, where he became the upper limb shoulder and elbow surgeon. This procedure includes predominantly shoulder surgery in the form of joint replacement, rotator cuff disease and also elbow surgery.

Subsequently he has transferred his specialist interest entirely to the Wrexham Maelor Hospital where he continues to have a broad range of interests, from sports injury medicine to rheumatoid surgery. Mr Wootton is available for consultation on Thursday mornings, this may vary from time to time due to commitments.
