I am a consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with an interest in surgery of the hip and knee. I also regularly perform trauma / fracture related surgery. My NHS practice is at Aintree Hospital, Liverpool.

I qualified from Newcastle Upon-Tyne Medical School in 1994. My early junior surgical years were spent in the North East of England. Specialist Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgical Training was undertaken in the Merseyside region – this covered all aspects of Orthopaedic Surgery. I completed Fellowships in Arthroplasty Surgery at Wrightington Hospital, Wigan and The Birmingham Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham. I completed a trauma fellowship in Denver, Colorado, USA in 2005.

My current practice and interest is in Arthroplasty surgery to the hip and knee, and knee arthroscopy surgery (keyhole surgery). I have a special interest in hip revision arthroplasty surgery. I have a regular trauma surgery commitment in my NHS practice. The majority of my work is based in Liverpool, but I am available for consultation at the Spire Murrayfield Hospital for those who request my opinion.

I was born and spent my early years on the Wirral. I was educated at Wirral Grammar School until the age of 16. I then moved South before travelling up to Newcastle Upon-Tyne for Medical School Training. I returned to the Wirral in my late 20’s and undertook Orthopaedic Training in the Mersey Region.

I now work in Liverpool. I live on the Wirral with my wife and 3 children. I was a keen Rugby player in the past and played to County standard as well as captaining School and University 1st teams. I have now retired from this sport, but have taken up Marathon running in my old age!
