    Background Information 
    Professional profile:
    I trained in urology at Liverpool and Edinburgh and was attached to the Scottish Lithotriptor Centre for over two years where I gained extensive experience in the management of stone disease. While in Edinburgh I also developed an interest in urological oncology and in male infertility.

    I was appointed as the first urologist to Wirral Hospitals NHS Trust in 1993 and am the Calman lead physician for urology at the Trust. My practice now consists predominantly of general urology, oncology, stone disease and male infertility. I have particular interests in prostate cancer, bladder cancer, penile cancer, percutaneous renal surgery for calculi, urethral trauma and stricture, and microsurgical reversal of vasectomy.
    Personal profile:
    I am married (Dr Valerie Hayhurst) with two daughters. My interests are golf, squash and tennis. Other activities include running the Merseyside Prostate Cancer Appeal, which is a charitable appeal and helps fund the prostate brachytherapy and cryotherapy service to treat early prostate cancer.
