I work as a Consultant Nephrologist at Arrowe Park and the Countess of Chester NHS Hospitals with special interests in hypertension, vasculitis, acute and chronic kidney disease and dialysis and transplantation.
I obtained the MRCP in the UK in 1998 following my early medical education including a post graduation degree in General Medicine between 1984-1996 at Calcutta Medical College and the Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research in Calcutta, India. My sub-specialty training between 1999 – 2006 in the UK was in East Anglia and North London. I undertook additional dialysis related research at Stevenage, Hertfordshire. I was appointed a substantive NHS Consultant in 2006.
My research projects to date include studies on patients who suffered heart attacks in India and cardiovascular stability on dialysis in the UK. Other areas where I have published research are on metabolic bone disease in patients with renal disease. I am currently involved in an epidemiological study with the University of Chester in the usefulness of sidium bicarbonate in patients with renal disease.
