Diabetic eye disease
Mr Alexander trained on the Moorfields Eye Hospital Residency Programme including Neuro Ophthalmology at Queens Square and Paediatric Ophthalmology at Great Ormond Street.
Following his time at Moorfields, Mr Alexander took an elective post in Royal Perth Hospital in Western Australia.
He then did a one year post residency at Moorfields and Royal London Hospital and concentrated on Diabetic Eye Disease and Neuro Ophthalmology.
Mr Alexander has been a Consultant at Southend Hospital since 1984 to the current time and has taken a special interest in Diabetic Eye Disease. He has also been a lead clinician for diabetic screening for the past 20 years and has also kept up with his Paediatrics.
At a regional level Mr Alexander has been the Royal College Advisor for the NE Thames region and Chairman of the NE Thames Training Committee for Ophthalmology. He is also a council member of the Ophthalmic Section of the Royal Society of Medicine.
