Mr Lusty qualified as a doctor at Cambridge University, in 1995. His basic surgical training was on the St Bartholomew's surgical rotation in London.

Mr Lusty was a clinical research fellow researching Chondrocyte transplantation at the Royal National Orthopeadic Hosital, Stanmore before starting his higher surgical training there. He spent over a year in Sydney, Australia in 2006-2007 on specialised fellowships in adult hip and knee reconstructive surgery and Sports Medicine. Mr Lusty was awarded and completed an AO Trauma fellowship in Germany shortly before he started work in Southend.

Mr Lusty is now a Consultant in Southend University Hospital specialising in lower limb elective and trauma surgery. His invaluable experience with leading international surgeons in Sydney has given him a particular interest in the following procedures:

• Hip replacement with new, more durable prosthesis such as Ceramic on Ceramic
• Knee replacement
• Arthroscopic surgery

Outside the operating theatre, I spend my free time with my family. I have two young sons, and we spend most of our time outdoors. I am a keen swimmer and cyclist, and the excellent weather in Southend allows me to practise sport, or go out to the beach or the woods with the family when I am not working. We travel to the French Alps twice a year, skiing in winter, and walking, climbing and enjoying the mountains in summer.
