Mr Kasaby graduated from medical school in 1981. After the usual few years of general medicine and surgery he began his training in Ophthalmology in various eye units throughout the UK. The latter part of his training took him to Birmingham Eye Hospital as a senior registrar. He then went on to train as a fellow in the sub-speciality of cataract & refractive surgery and cornea & external eye diseases at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.Mr Kasaby is now a consultant and clinical director of the eye unit at Southend, Basildon and Orsett Hospitals.
