Qualified (MD) in Belgrade, Yugoslavia in 1970. Consultant Neurologist and Associate Professor of Neurology at the School of Medicine, Belgrade University until 1987. Postgraduate training in Sweden (Linkoping University; Karolinska Institute in Stockholm) in Multiple Sclerosis of the CNS (MSci, PhD). Research fellow at the Department of Neuroimmunology, Institute of Neurology, Queen Square in London from 1987 to 1991. Associate Professor of Neurology and Head of Neurology at the Faculty of Medicine in Kuwait from 1992 to 1997.

Fully registered and on the Specialist Register (Neurology) in the UK from 1999. Consultant Neurologist at Southend Hospital NHS Trust in 1999, then in Surrey and Sussex NHS Trust from 2000 to 2002.

Organised The Epilepsy Service at East Surrey Hospital in Redhill and the Royal County Surrey Hospital in Guildford. From November 2002, full-time Consultant Neurologist (substantive post) at Southend Hospital and the The Royal London Hospital.
