    The bulk of Mr Bhattacharya's training has been in the Mersey region and the North-east, in addition to the two years he spent as a clinical vascular fellow in Seattle.

    Mr Bhattacharya is a general surgeon with vascular interest. He performs a wide range of operations including hernia repair, varicose veins, peripheral artery bypass for ischaemia, laparoscopic surgery and endoscopy besides more complex carotid and aortic aneurysm surgery.

    Mr Bhattacharya also offers treatments for varicose veins using foam sclerotherapy and VNUS ablation under local anaesthesia. The latter version involves placing a special catheter into the diseased vein under ultrasound guidance. The tiny catheter powered by radiofrequency energy delivers heat to the vein wall thus shrinking and sealing it. The blood is rerouted to other healthy veins. A compression bandage is applied and you will be back to work within days.
