Consultant Spinal Surgeon with Orthopaedic Trauma, Sunderland Royal Hospital
Mr Lakshmanan started his medical career in India in Tamil Nadu, where he did his Orthopaedic Training for three years from 1998 - 2001. He did a thesis on Surgical management of Upper cervical spine instability for his MS (Orth) degree obtained from the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, India in 2001. Mr Lakshmanan did a fellowship in Spinal Surgery in Cardiff (University Hospital Wales & University Hospital Llandough) in 2004 when he published his hypothesis on Odontoid fractures in the elderly. Then, he did his orthopaedic rotation in the Northern Deanery. He underwent advanced spinal training fellowship in the Spinal Centre in Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham in 2009. In 2010, before taking up his role as Spinal Consultant in Sunderland Royal Hospital, he did a Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery fellowship in Schon Klinik at Munich with Prof Mayer and co.
