In my post as a Consultant General Surgeon I deal with all aspects of general surgery, laparoscopic surgery, upper and lower gastro intestinal, endoscopic surgery, as well as breast and endocrine surgery. I specialise in focused, minimally invasive parathyroid surgery on a day-case or overnight stay basis. I also specialise in laparoscopic hernia repair.

I have also been trained in oncoplastic surgery dealing with breast reconstruction and cosmesis. I started parathyroid surgery in the University Hospital of North Durham as it was not previously available within this region.

I qualified in medicine in 1989 and trained mainly in Birmingham and Cambridge. I completed my training in breast, oncoplasty, endocrine and general surgery and took up the post of consultant surgeon in the University Hospital of North Durham in 2005.
