    Professional profile:
    I have been consultant cardiologist/physician at the University Hospital of North Durham since 1st September 2001. In my base hospital I share the running of the coronary care unit and the cardiology ward with my colleague Dr M Cave, hold out-patient clinics and perform transoesophageal echocardiography. I hold regular cardiac catheterisation sessions at the James Cook Centre (South Cleveland Hospital) in Middlesbrough.

    My medical background includes eight years of cardiology training as a specialist registrar working in many hospitals in the northern region, including the Freeman Hospital and James Cook Centre. I developed relationships, learned and became confident in managing all varieties of acute and chronic cardiac problems and in performing cardiac catheterisation, permanent pacemaker implantation and echocardiography (including transoesophageal echocardiography).

    I have special interest in ischaemic heart disease, heart failure and cardiac arrythmias.
    Personal profile:
    I am a happily married man with three children (10, 7 and 2 years old).

    I enjoy swimming, love watching and playing football.
