    Professional profile:
    I have been practising at Spire Washington Hospital since it opened, with regular weekly out-patient clinics and also responsibility for in-patient care. I have seen hundreds of out-patients at the hospital with a variety of general medical complaints such as hypertension, heart disease and non-specific ill health, in addition to chest diseases such as asthma, chronic bronchitis and lung cancer.
    Personal profile:
    I qualified in 1973 from Wales and have been a consultant physician since 1984, first at Bishop Auckland General Hospital and currently at Sunderland Royal Hospital. My administrative appointments include lead clinician for cancer services at the Sunderland Cancer Unit.
