Professor Basil Ammori is an internationally renowned Bariatric Surgeon and leads the bariatric surgery services at Salford Royal Hospital and at the Internationally Accredited Bariatric Centre of Excellence at the Spire Manchester Hospital.  He has performed over 3000 laparoscopic (keyhole) weight loss surgery procedures including gastric band, gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, duodenal switch and gastric balloon. Professor Ammori regularly undertakes complex revision surgery  and has successfully operated on people with body mass index as high as 87 kg/m2.

Professor Basil Ammori is a Consultant Bariatric Surgeon at Salford Royal Hospital (NHS), Consultant Hepatobiliary Surgeon at North Manchester General Hospital (NHS) and an Honorary Professor of Hepatobiliary and Bariatric Surgery at The University of Manchester. He also holds a Hunterian Professorship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Mr Andrew Baker BHB, MB ChB, FRACS

Mr Baker’s primary interest is in the management of upper gastro-intestinal diseases both oncological (cancer) and functional. He has had extensive training in, and has taught, advanced laparoscopic techniques with particular emphasis on biliary disease and anti-reflux surgery. He also has a major interest in obesity surgery.

Mr Decadt performs advanced laparoscopic (key hole) and open weight loss surgery both in his NHS practice and in the private sector.

Mr Decadt's main interest is bariatric surgery. During his research fellowship he was involved with the first laparoscopic gastric banding undertaken in the UK in 1997.

Mr Decadt's special interests include gastric balloons, lapband for obesity, laparoscopic gastric bypass and sleeve (for obesity and/or diabetes). In the NHS he is a consultant surgeon for upper GI surgery at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport.

Alan Li MB ChB FRCS (Eng), FRCS(Gen Surg)

Mr Alan Li was educated in Oxford and graduated from the University of Bristol Medical School. He undertook his surgical training in Leeds/Yorkshire and in Scotland.  He was the University of Leeds Medical School Tutor in Surgery followed by three years as a Research Fellow for the Medical Research Council and the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

He then travelled to Tokyo and Brisbane as the Senior Clinical Fellow where he developed his practice in gastric cancer and thoracoscopic and laparoscopic (keyhole) oesophageal  cancer surgery.

He has been a Consultant Surgeon at the Manchester Royal Infirmary since 2007 and is currently the Upper GI Cancer Lead Clinician and heads the Oesophago-Gastric Department which takes in cancer referrals from Central Manchester, Stockport, Tameside and Trafford areas. He also receives referrals from across the North West Region for complex and revision benign (non-cancer) procedures.

Mr Alan Li assisted in his first bypass procedure in 1995 and has been performing independently laparoscopic weight loss procedures since 2006 including gastric band, gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and gastric balloon.

Mr Robert Macadam

Mr Robert Macadam was appointed as a consultant surgeon at University Hospital Aintree in 2005 following graduating at Leeds University and core and higher surgical training in the Yorkshire region.

For five years, Robert carried out oesophageal and gastric cancer resections before further specialising in advanced laparoscopic surgery for morbid obesity full time in the North West.

Mr Macadam has a continuing interest in the surgery of morbid obesity along with functional disorders of the upper gastrointestinal tract.
