Breast uplift

The Spire Tunbridge Wells Hospital in Fordcombe, Kent has a number of expert consultant plastic surgeons to help give you the look you want.

Mr Marc Pacifico Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Spire Tunbridge Wells Hospital who specalises in breast surgery says:

"This is a very good operation for sagging or droopy breasts – especially following pregnancy and breast feeding.  The breasts are lifted and tightened to restore a youthful shape and appearance. A breast lift or mastopexy procedure helps to provide fullness in the upper part of the breast that may have been lost with the effects of gravity and age. The scars that result fade with time – these are around the nipple, down towards the breast crease and sometimes also in the crease itself. "

What is a breast uplift?

Your breasts may have lost their shape with age, or after pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight loss. Whatever the reason, a breast uplift from Spire Cosmetic Surgery could help to rejuvenate your figure and give you back younger, firmer and more shapely looking breasts.

Often a breast uplift, also known as a mastopexy, is performed at the same time as a breast enlargement or reduction to help achieve the shape and size you would like your breasts to be.

About the breast uplift (mastopexy) procedure

A breast uplift raises and reshapes your breasts by removing excess skin from underneath your breast and around the areola, the dark area of skin around your nipple. The skin and tissue of the breast is tightened and your nipple is moved to a higher position to give a more youthful and firm appearance.

The operation is performed under general anaesthetic, which means you will be asleep during the procedure. You will usually stay in hospital for at least one night after your operation and will need to plan time off work so that you can recover at home. You will also need to wear a special supportive bra in the first few weeks after surgery.

As with any cosmetic procedure, it is important that you review your expectations thoroughly before you decide to proceed. Your surgeon will explain the results you can expect after a breast uplift, and will discuss the associated risks and alternatives to the procedure before going ahead.
