Lead Consultant Rheumatologist and General Physician at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS trust
British Society of Rheumatology
Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London
Dr Batley trained at Guy’s Hospital in London, qualifying in 1991. I was a junior doctor at the North Middlesex Hospital and was a registrar in the South Thames region – working at St Thomas’, King’s College and Guy’s Hospitals. I was part of the Early Rheumatoid Arthritis Network and my research looked at the effects of other conditions associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). I have presented this data in Europe and the United States of America. In 2003 I became a consultant in Rheumatology and General Medicine in the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Trust, working initially out of the Maidstone Site. I have set up Lupus Clinics, Early Synovitis Clinics and Biologic Cohort Clinics, and have published our outcomes in the International Literature. I have been the Royal College tutor for medicine, Clinical Director for medicine and currently am the Clinical Governance Lead for Medicine at Maidstone as well as the Rheumatology Clinical Lead for MTW trust and the Chair of the VTE committee.
I live in Cranbrook, have a wife and two lovely daughters, 2 cats, 6 chickens and a few visiting ducks.
