We want to help patients and their GPs make informed choices when it comes to healthcare. We also want to show you the quality of the care we provide at Spire Healthcare. To do this, we have taken a leading position among healthcare providers by publishing a wide range of performance information for each of our hospitals.
This is just one part of our programme to improve our already high standards of clinical quality and safety. All Spire Healthcare hospitals are registered with the Healthcare Commission and are required to meet the rigorous standards they set for independent hospitals. The standards include the quality and safety of treatment, cleanliness of the hospitals, staff recruitment and training and information available to patients.
In November 2007, the Healthcare Commission announced that Spire Healthcare had topped the league table of private hospital operators. Of Spire Healthcare’s 25 UK hospitals, 73 percent achieved or almost achieved all 32 Healthcare Commission core standards during 2006/2007. Spire Healthcare outperformed the UK’s other top private hospital companies - BMI Healthcare (63%), Nuffield Hospitals (61%) and Capio Healthcare (56%).
We are pleased to announce that Spire Healthcare is a finalist in two categories of the Laing & Buisson 2008 Independent Healthcare Awards. Spire Healthcare Head of Infection Control has been shortlisted in the Nursing Practice category and Sonia King, Clinical Governance Facilitator, is a finalist in the Healthcare Outcomes category. The winners will be announced in September.
