Mr Kheterpal undertook his medical training at Cambridge University and Oxford Clinical School. He trained in Ophthalmic surgery at the Birmingham & Midland Eye Centre and the world famous Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. 

He has been a Consultant at the King Edward V11 Hospital Windsor (where is currently Clinical Lead Consultant) and the Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS trusts since 1999. He has a special interest in refractive surgery (laser vision correction), refractive cataract surgery, accommodative and multifocal lens implants, retina and macula (especially therapy for macular degeneration including lucentis, avastin and IOLvip) and eyelid plastic surgery as well as all aspects of general ophthalmology. Mr Kheterpal is officially recognised for IOLvip and Crystalens implants and undertakes cutting edge treatments for keratoconus including INTACs and Collagen Crosslinking.

Mr kheterpal regularly lectures at local, national and international meetings, is a reviewer for national and international medical journals and holds memberships and fellowships of the Royal college of Ophthalmologists, Royal College of Surgeons, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He is the medical director for the Windsor Eye Clinic Diagnostic Centre which has the most advanced diagnostic facilities for ophthalmology in the region.

Mr Kheterpal both consults and operates out of the Spire Thames Valley hospital.
