Mr Ekambaram Babu is the clinical lead for breast cancer at The Hillingdon Hospital. He treats both benign and malignant problems of the breast and has a special interest in the oncoplastic management of breast cancer - which is the concept that encompasses plastic surgery techniques in order to reshape the remaining breast or reconstruct the breast after appropriate excision of breast cancer.
Other areas of clinical interest include the treatment of problems of the thyroid and parathyroid, the management of thyrotoxicosis and laparoscopic surgery of the gall bladder and hernias.
Mr Babu leads the surgical endocrinology team at The Hillingdon Hospital and is part of a team managing thyroid cancers in West London. He is the author of publications in peer reviewed journals and contributed to other medical texts.
At Spire Bushey Hospital and Spire Thames Valley, Mr Babu is part of a multi-disciplinary team treating problems of the breast. As a highly experienced breast cancer surgeon he runs a triple assessment breast clinic on a Saturday morning where, following GP referral, patients with any lumps or concerns about their breasts are seen. At this clinic patients undergo a full examination and relevant imaging such as digital mammography and, in many cases will be able to receive a diagnosis at their visit.
