Mr Lal Senaratne qualified as a doctor in Sri Lanka from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo and carried out his basic surgical training through the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine at the University of Colombo.
Mr Senaratne has conducted research at the Nuffield Department of Surgery, University of Oxford and done extensive training at Guy's Hospital, St Thomas', Kings, Medway, Brighton and Canterbury.
