Mr Harrison Benziger is the only substantive Upper GI surgeon at QEQM Hospital in Margate.
He qualified from prestigious Trivandrum University Medical College (Kerala) India in 1974. He soon moved to the UK to pursue and attain Higher Surgical Training. His early surgical training was at Canterbury and Wales.
Mr Harrison Benziger has the distinction of attaining Fellowships from two different Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh and England.
Mr Benziger was appointed Locum Consultant in 1983 at Haverford West Hospital in South Wales and thereafter was appointed as the Consultant and Head of the Department of Surgery at Ministry of Health Hospita, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Following his return to the UK he worked as Locum Consultant at Bangor General Hospital Wales and later at Homerton General Hospital, London.
During his training years Mr Benziger spent many years in learning advanced and sophisticated gastrointestinal surgery including laparoscopic surgery. He was one of the early surgeons to embrace the laparoscopic surgery and has applied his skills in mastering complicated laparoscopic procedures like deep pelvic colorectal dissection as well as laparoscopic GI work.
He has amassed a vast experience in a wide range of both open and laparoscopic elective and emergency surgery.
