Mr Tsavellas qualified in 1990 from Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School in London. He undertook basic surgical training on the prestigious University College and Middlesex Hospitals rotation and subsequently entered higher surgical training on the Wessex rotation based in the south of England. He also spent two years undertaking research into colorectal cancer at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital was awarded the degree of Master of Surgery (MS) from the University of London. He has been a Consultant Surgeon within the East Kent NHS Trust since 2004 and lives in Canterbury. He is the Clinical Lead for Colorectal Surgery at Margate & Canterbury Hospitals.
