Dr David Smithard is trained in geriatric and general internal medicine, qualifying in 1986. He has had a specialist interest and training in stroke since 1990 and has set up and developed a one stroke service.
Dr Smithard's MD was in dysphagia following stoke and he offers an all age stroke service and see's patients of all ages. He is currently secretary of the British Association of Stroke Physicians and Clinical Director of Kent and Medway Comprehensive Local research network.Dr David Smithard has worked in East Kent since 1997 and is presently chairman of the East Kent Stroke Forum as well as being the director of research and development and lead chairman for South Kent Head and Stroke Services in the trust. He has a particular interest in stroke and its complications including dysphagia.
