A new service has been launched at Spire St Saviour's Hospital in Hythe, Kent to treat patients with "dry" age related Macular Degeneration.
IOL VIP is a double intra ocular lens implant for visual rehabilitation of patients with macular disease. Age related macular degeneration (ARMD) is the most common cause of blindness in people aged 60 and over. It usually affects both eyes with the degeneration or loss of central vision affecting a persons quality of life. Driving, reading and even recognising faces may be difficult depending on the severity of the condition.
IOL VIP is being performed by Mr Brian Greaves, consultant Ophthalmologist on patients that are suitable following a full assessment and consultation. For more information please call us on 01303 233766 or email cservice-ss@spirehealthcare.com.
