Mrs PL Lip MBChB(Glasgow) FRCS(Edin) FRCOphth

  • Mrs PL Lip is a consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Good Hope Hospital, Heart of England Foundation Trust and the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre since her appointment in 2001.  Having graduated from The University of Glasgow in 1990, she spent her junior doctor training years in the West of Scotland and continued her specialist training in Ophthalmology in the West Midlands. She was appointed as the Birmingham & Midland Eye Foundation Fellow in Medical retina furthering her interests and research in medical retinal and vascular diseases.

    Mrs Lip is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer of Birmingham University. Her teaching and training roles extend to being college tutor for The Royal College of Ophthalmologists, undergraduate lead for Good Hope EDE module, lecturer for Haemoglobinopathy Module course and regional flexible training lead for Ophthalmology.

    Her subspeciality interests include diabetic eye disease, age-related macular degeneration retinal vascular diseases and sickle cell retinopathy. She performs small incisional cataract surgery, intravitreal anti-VEGF injections, photodynamic therapy, laser treatment and other general common eye diseases.
