Your family and friends are very important to you during any tests or treatment for cancer. Their love, support and company will help you through this difficult time. Because of this, and with your agreement, we make sure that your family and friends are included in the whole process.
You can bring along a family member or friend to keep you company during treatment. If you have surgery, they can wait for you in your room and have meals at the hospital, so they are there for you when you come back from theatre. We keep visiting hours flexible throughout your stay and offer free car parking, so that your friends and loved ones can spend lots of time with you to help you recover.
Your family and friends may also need support when you are diagnosed with cancer and while you are having treatment. Our oncology teams liaise closely with Macmillan Cancer Support and your GP to offer support both in hospital and at home throughout your treatment. The oncology nursing team’s ethos is for you and your family to feel able to contact them at any time when you need advice and answers to your questions.
