Initial Assessments
Our dedicated weight loss surgery team undertake a comprehensive assessment of all patients who are considering weight loss surgery to assess your suitability for surgery.
At the initial assessment, our weight loss surgery team will discuss your clinical needs with you and assess which treatment is suitable for you. You will need to have blood tests to ensure you have no undiagnosed conditions, any undiagnosed conditions that are identified will be managed prior to your operation. You will also be given information about how to prepare yourself for your operation, both in terms of lifestyle and psychological preparation.
Post Operative follow up
We provide ongoing dietary advice and support. Our dietitian, who is experienced in advising patients on making lifestyle changes, will help to guide you through your first year with your gastric band or bypass. At the end of the year you will have learned how to work with your gastric band to achieve optimum results. If you have had a gastric band operation, band adjustments are carried out by your surgeon in the out-patient clinic.
After bariatric surgery dietary management and following a nutritionally adequate and balanced programme is essential. Your body levels of fat and muscle are measure at each clinic visit to ensure that you are achieving a healthy balance.
