Frequently asked questions about vasectomy reversal procedures
We have tried to give the answers to some of the questions our consultant often gets asked. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
If you would like to book an appointment to speak to our specialists directly, please contact Kirsten Dittrich on 023 8076 4389 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
It depends on a few factors including how you are paying for your treatment. If you are paying for the treatment yourself, in most cases a referral is not necessary.
If a GP referral is required then we can help. If easier for you, you can contact us first and we can then contact your GP to get the appropriate paperwork organised for you.
How long will I have to wait for an appointment?
We can usually book you an initial consultation with our specialist within two weeks but often sooner than this depending on your availability. We may be able to arrange early morning or evening appointments to help fit around your day. Please call us to find out appointment times.
After the procedure, how soon can I go back to work?
After the operation patients should rest. It is advisable to be off work for approximately one week but this may depend on the type of work you do. Strenuous exercise and activities should be avoided for approximately four weeks to give the wound a good chance to heal properly. Your consultant will go through the specifics at your appointment.
Can my wife/partner come to the hospital with me?
Of course. Your room will be empty while you are in theatre and they are free to watch the television, watch a DVD or listen to the radio while they wait for you to return. There is also a restaurant on the top floor of the hospital where you can help yourself to complimentary tea or coffee or purchase snacks. Lunch is available to buy between 12-2pm should you be there at this time and would like something more substantial to eat.
