Consultant Hepatobiliary and General Surgeon, Southampton University Hospitals Trust
I graduated from Nottingham University in 1995. I moved to Wessex soon after and completed my training in general surgery in hospitals around the region.
I have always been interested in diseases of the liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile duct. I developed my specialty interst in this field by working in pioneering liver and pancreatic surgical units in England and Australia. The high standards of care that I helped provide in these units are entrenched in my surgical practice.
I have always taken an active role in research alongside my clinical commitments. My main interest is in the biology of pancreatic cancer and I was awarded a PhD in 2004 for reasearch in this field. I have also published several research papers that contribute to the understanding of physiological changes associated with liver and pancreatic surgery.
I am a member of a team of five surgeons in Southampton that undertake liver and pancreatic surgery for the whole South Coast region (Dorset, Hampshire and Channel Islands).
I am married with three children. I enjoy outdoor pursuits, particularly hill walking and sailing. I am a keen cricketer and golfer.
