    Mr Van den Bossche started doing obesity surgery in 1995 in Belgium and has since been a member of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity. He is a preceptor for obesity surgery and has given training to surgeons in several hospitals in the UK.

    He has developed the obesity surgery service at the Spire Southampton Hospital in collaboration with Mr Ian Bailey. Outpatients are seen at a dedicated obesity clinic on Thursday afternoons and the following procedures are available: lapbanding, laparoscopic gastric bypass and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, laparoscopic biliopancreatic division - duodenal switch.
