Having graduated from Leeds University I undertook postgraduate training in general surgery and obstetrics and gynaecology. I completed a research fellowship at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund before undertaking subspecialty clinical training fellowships in gynaecological oncology in both UK (Leeds) and Australia (Brisbane).

I am currently consultant in gynaecology and gynaecological oncology in the Southampton cancer centre and Director of the gynaecological oncology service. I also have clinical sessions at both Winchester and Salisbury hospitals. I have a wide experience in general gynaecology and continue to enjoy this practice. I have special interests in all aspects of premalignancy including early diagnosis and screening. I am the Lead Clinician for colposcopy services in Southampton and also direct the rapid access post menopausal bleeding service.
