Background Information
Professional profile:
I have been a consultant gynaecologist and subspecialist urogynaecologist in Southampton since 1997. I was the first person to go through Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists subspeciality training in urogynaecology. This led to my main interest in the area of the pelvic floor, including urinary incontinence, prolapse and faecal incontinence.

I direct a tertiary referral centre and have patients referred from many parts of the south of England.

In addition I am a general gynaecologist and look after patients with menstrual disorders, fibroids, endometriosis and menopausal problems. I do not practice obstetrics any more to enable me to devote more attention to gynaecological problems.

Southampton is now recognised for urogynaecology both at a national and international level. I have a research programme and we present the research at national and international meetings.

I have published postgraduate text books in urogynaecology and have recently published 'Gynaecology by Ten Teachers' for medical students, and have a keen interest in education and training.
Personal profile:
My major interests outside of work include learning Italian, poetry and cooking. I also have interests in music, squash and badminton. I am a keen follower of rugby.
