Dr Partha Kar joined Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust as a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology in August 2008. Prior to that, he trained in the Wessex region between 2002 and 2008. He finished his research and gained his MD from Portsmouth University in 2008. Since August 2009 he has taken over as the Clinical Director of the Diabetes and Endocrine department in Portsmouth.
His main area of interest is around pituitary disease and he runs a clinic in liaison with the neurosurgical team based at Wessex Neurological Centre, Southampton - looking after patients who have pituitary disease.
His other areas of interest have included thyroid disease, PCOS, Type 1 Diabetes (especially adolescent group) and Type 2 Diabetes - apart from general medicine.
Dr Kar also speaks both Hindi and Bengali.
